Tina Denise Byrd mother, Tammy Wynette was plagued by health problems throughout her life. She passed away on April 6, 1998, while sleeping at her Nashville, Tennessee, home. She was 55 years old.
Wynette died from a blood clot in her lung. The day she died, George Richey and Wynette spent all day together on Couche of their the living room. Later in the evening, George Richey found out that Wynette had passed away. Her death was confirmed by her doctor, Wallis Marsh, who traveled from Pennsylvania to certify it.
